- Independent Power
(Thailand) Company Limited has been selected by the Electricity Generating
Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to build and operate a combined cycle power
plant under EGAT's Independent Power Producer (IPP) programme, phase
1, Stage 1, for the eastern corridor. This is the first time the private
sector has been allowed to invest in power generation.
- The project will
help meet the increasing demand for electricity resulting from continued
domestic development, as well as provide supply security, while at the
same time reducing the government's capital requirements. Independent
Power (Thailand) Company Limited is the first IPP to sign the Power
Purchase Agreement with EGAT under the IPP programme.
